FAQ — answered straight.

How does the 5-year tier structure work exactly?
Three tiers, applied to every paid invoice based on how long the customer has been a paying customer:
  • Year 1 (months 1–12): 40% of every invoice
  • Year 2 (months 13–24): 25% of every invoice
  • Years 3–5 (months 25–60): 10% of every invoice
  • Month 61+: commission ends for that customer (everyone else you've referred keeps paying)
A single Pro Host you refer pays you a total of $342 over 5 years. A Solo Host pays you $171. If they churn and re-signup via your link, the clock restarts at month 1 / Y1 rates.
What if they upgrade from Solo to Pro?
Your commission scales with them. In year 1: Solo Host ($15/mo) → you earn $6.00/month. Pro Host ($30/mo) → $12.00/month. The Stripe webhook fires on the new invoice amount, our engine picks the right tier, and your wallet ticks up. Annual plans pre-pay in one shot — so does your commission.
When do payouts land?
Net 30 after the customer's invoice clears Stripe. Minimum payout is $50; below that we roll the balance until the next month. PayPal, Stripe Connect, or ACH — your choice.
Do you do clawbacks on refunds?
If a customer refunds within 30 days of signup, that one invoice clawbacks (we don't profit, so neither should anyone). After 30 days, no clawbacks ever — even on cancellations.
How are referrals tracked?
Two ways: a 90-day first-party cookie tied to your unique link, and an email match if the prospect signs up with the same email later. Whichever fires first wins, so even users who clear cookies still attribute correctly.
Can I use paid traffic / Google Ads?
Yes, with two rules: (1) you can't bid on the term "koohost" or close variants — we own that. (2) Landing pages must disclose affiliation per FTC. We'll give you compliant templates.
What if I have a small audience?
Apply anyway. We've approved partners with 800 newsletter subscribers and rejected applicants with 200k followers — what matters is audience fit. Short-term-rental hosts who actually trust you beats raw size every time.
How do I get rejected?
Three things: (1) audience overlap with Koohost is near-zero (e.g. crypto, fitness, dropshipping with no STR angle); (2) you've been flagged for spammy affiliate behavior elsewhere; (3) your channel/site is dead (no post in 6+ months). That's it. No quotas, no gatekeeping for the sake of it.
